In June 2026, Vogue Italia featured a long interview with Leorosa’s artistic director and co-founder Paolina Leccese, her motivation and inspiration for the brand and its latest collection You are a Big Girl Now. With great self-reflection and a very personal tone, Leccese talks of the fine line between reference, nostalgia and the need to make every item absolutely contemporary at the same time. A design that oscillates between a classic silhouette and period garments but also exaggeration and humor.

Both in their highest quality making as well their bold designs, Leorosa’s cardigans, vests, jumpers and skirts freely move between classics and avant-garde, between Italy, New York and Berlin, artist studios and fashion editorials. Bright colors, bows, colorful buttons and short skirts celebrate a chic that is both sophisticated as well as slightly over the top. Leorosa’s newest- the 6th collection- is bringing to mind 90s icons like Cher Horowitz from Clueless or the unrivaled Fran Drescher, paired with a touch of Benetton jumper-around-the-shoulder-preppiness and a few good finds from the closet of a distantly related, semi-aristocratic and perhaps no longer wealthy but always very well dressed aunty.

After having founded Leorosa in 2019 together with Julian Taffel, today, Paolina Leccese runs the label by herself. So, also in that sense, Leorosa’s new collection You are a Big Girl Now is the result of a personal, bittersweet journey of personal growth and transition.

But hey- what a very promising journey it has quickly proven to be! Leorosa’s fast-growing fan community is very much a reflection of the multi-layered refinement her design is so successful in and to bring together cultural references, friendships and international creatives. It included icons such as director Gus Van Sant, artists Louise Lawler or Sylvie Fleury but also writer Lena Dunham, designer Margherita Maccapani Missoni or actress Tallulah Willis.

The world of Leorosa is colorful, sparks with joy and surprising details and is full of personal anecdotes. Its melancholic at times but never sarcastic, it is informed by sartorial traditions of the past and yet offers a wardrobe of very seductive, playful companions for every moment from now on.
