Cherished souvenirs and things of all kinds find a stylish, temporary home in Cassidy Toner’s humorous take on the iconic Hermès Vide-Poches. Handpainted in six firings, fhe surface is decorated with drawings of selected objects from the universe of SAALHOF 1123, depicted as if spilling from a shopping bag collapsing display, consumption, and image into a single functional object.

American, Basel-based artist @cassidytoner examines artistic conventions, aesthetic hierarchies, and the cultural systems that structure value, often moving between cartoon language and academic traditions. Her practice applies an ironic and critical lens to the expectations, economies, and behavioral codes of the contemporary art world.

Cassidy Toner is included in Manifesta 16 opening in Ruhr Germany 20 June. She exhibits internationally, including with The Approach (London) and Kay Matsumaya (New York).

L’Esprit is inspired by a slow summer in the countryside and brings together special collaborations with artists, designers and brands including Aglagla, Sonnhild Kestler,  Maison Metzger, Cassidy Toner and enSoie.
