Vidya Gastaldon is a French-Swiss artist, born in Besançon, she lives and works in Geneva and Grange Neuve.
„Vidya Gastaldon‘s drawings and paintings seem to be the product of hallucinations. Her landscapes allow us to approach the passage from the infinitely large to the infinitely small, to perceive simultaneously the macrocosm and the swarming of its cellular constitution. The universe that Gastaldon‘s drawings, sculptures and films are made up of living matter, in constant mutation, in constant transmigration. This vision can be described as ‚naturalistic‘, as opposed to ‚naturalistic‘. Biology. Ecology. Cosmology. Cosmogony. Each work, each landscape represents a level of consciousness of the world, a principle of knowledge which, most often within the same sheet, multiplies, diversifies, converts, according to a non-linear logic, specific to the artist‘s line.
Vidya Gastaldon regularly participates in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Switzerland andvabroad and is currently represented by the galleries Wilde in Geneva and Art:concept in Paris.
She co-directed the art space Zabriskie Point in Geneva between 2010 and 2015. She teaches in the Representation option at HEAD Geneva. Since 2015 she is part of the association of the Centre d‘Art Contemporain de Lacoux.
Vidya practices and teaches cashmere yoga and is particularly interested in the sacred texts of India.
