POLINA MOROZ | MAREMATA LAMP | 2021
MAREMATA LAMP
2021 Oxidized bronze
70 x 54 x 5 cm
Each Lamp is hand cast on demand. Please expect about 8 weeks for delivery.
For Polina Moroz‘ MAREMATA LAMP, massive bronze is hand-cast and oxidized into a surprisingly delicate shape, recalling an exotic flower or a dancing body in movement, among other. Similarly to half-closed blinds in an afternoon room, the space around the object is lit in fragments only, lea- ving traces of light and shadow on walls and surrounding.
Polina Moroz‘ work derives from subtle observations of form, function and color and light, often connected to the artist‘s personal experience. They are observations of organic and human-made structures in cities and in nature and of materiality in constant process. Cultural, personal and po- litical layers of signification are blended into objects and works of fragile presence, often reflecting light and space in very particular ways.
Polina Moroz was born in Kyiv, Ukraine and works as independent architect, designer and multidi- sciplinary artist in Paris, France.
The practice of Polina Moroz varies between the categories of contemporary art, functional design and architecture. Trained in both art and architecture as well as in experimental spatial design from Lund University in Sweden, she has been working in Copenhagen, New York and since 2020 in Paris both independently as well as in collective structures.
